New Furniture has just arrived from Edinburgh Company: Software Portrait, Relocating offices in Edinburgh and have donated their furniture to Recycle Scotland. Over 6 Tonnes saved from being sent to Landfill.

NEW figures from Recycle Scotland, the centenary project devised by the charity Edinburgh University Settlement, claim that the office furniture recycling project has prevented the dumping of around 3000 tonnes of landfill since 2006. Operating with seed core funding from RBS’s corporate social responsibility arm, Recycle Scotland has worked to make unwanted office furniture available to local communities, social enterprises, small businesses and charities.

Last year, it redistributed 22% of the 750 tonnes of donated furniture to good causes, the equivalent of £375,000 worth if bought new. What’s not to like? Worthy organisations get high-quality furniture cheap or free, while a dent is made on the appalling volume of landfill waste.

Thank you to all our site visitors for their patience whilst we upgraded the website. We have had a few busy months whilst we relocated to new premises and have now finally upgraded our website.

Working with one of the largest UK legal companies we have just successfully diverted over 100 tonnes of unwanted office furniture from Landfill. Benefiting from this latest removal were:

  • Learn Direct Teaching Centre in New Parliament House where new café furniture and fridges were donated.
  • Changeworks, an environmental protection agency, took 10 desks.
  • The Scottish Autistic Society, have just taken delivery of 8 desks and pedestals along with desk storage, to transform their office space.
  • Through our strategic partners Space Solutions we have just delivered and installed the new desking at The Scottish Autistic Society head office in Alloa.
